Digital Forensic Laboratory Setup
We design, equip, and operationalise purpose-built digital forensic laboratories for law enforcement agencies, government bodies, and large enterprises.
The quality of a digital forensic investigation is only as good as the laboratory conducting it. Across Africa, a persistent gap in forensic infrastructure has meant that many agencies and organisations capable of investigating digital crime lack the physical and technical environment to do so to international standards. The result is outsourced work, delayed investigations, and evidence that does not always survive legal scrutiny.
We bridge that gap. Drawing on our own purpose-built forensic laboratory as a model, we design, equip, and operationalise digital forensic laboratories for law enforcement agencies, government departments, financial institutions, and large enterprises.
WHY INVEST IN A DEDICATED FORENSIC LABORATORY
The African Union's Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection (Malabo Convention) calls on member states to build domestic digital forensics capability. That requires purpose-built infrastructure, and most member states are not yet there.
Law enforcement agencies without in-house forensic laboratories face case backlogs that stretch for months. Evidence integrity does not improve with time, and neither do the chances of a successful prosecution.
Financial institutions, telcos, and energy companies that handle high volumes of internal investigations benefit considerably from having a dedicated in-house forensic capability. It reduces dependence on external vendors, accelerates turnaround, and keeps sensitive investigative work inside the organisation.
A properly accredited forensic laboratory is also, in many jurisdictions, a prerequisite for evidence admissibility. Without it, technically sound work can still be excluded on procedural grounds.
Beyond individual cases, the infrastructure builds something harder to quantify: institutional knowledge, a credible deterrent to insider threats, and the organisational confidence that comes from knowing you can investigate properly when you need to.
WHAT WE DO
Needs Assessment and Laboratory Design
We begin with a thorough assessment of your investigative mandate, caseload profile, and budget, then design a laboratory configuration matched to your requirements, from a basic triage facility to a full multi-examiner operation.
Tool Selection and Procurement
We advise on and procure industry-leading forensic tools including Cellebrite, Magnet AXIOM, Passware, and write blockers, making sure you acquire what you actually need without paying for capabilities that will sit unused.
Physical Environment Setup
We configure the laboratory's physical environment to forensic standards: evidence storage, chain-of-custody documentation systems, secure workstations, Faraday enclosures for wireless device examination, and evidence management infrastructure.
Software Licensing and Configuration
Forensic software requires careful licensing, configuration, and validation before it is court-ready. We handle that groundwork correctly from the start, so the first case the laboratory handles is not also the first time the tools are properly set up.
Standard Operating Procedures
A well-equipped laboratory is only as reliable as the procedures behind it. We develop comprehensive SOPs covering evidence reception, examination workflows, quality assurance, report generation, and court presentation.
Staff Training and Certification
Infrastructure without trained staff achieves nothing. We provide hands-on training for your examiners and support them in pursuing internationally recognised certifications that matter when they take the stand.
Post-Setup Support and Accreditation Assistance
We provide ongoing support after commissioning and assist in pursuing relevant accreditations, including ISO/IEC 17025, which courts and regulators in an increasing number of jurisdictions now expect to see.
WHY CHOOSE US
We operate Nigeria's leading commercial digital forensic laboratory, built through years of operational work rather than planned from a specification. When we help clients establish their own laboratories, the advice comes from that experience directly. Our advisory work includes forensic laboratory projects for government agencies and law enforcement bodies across West Africa, and we understand what it takes to build something that functions under real investigative pressure, not just on paper.
